I was glad to tune into BBC Radio 4 : With Great Pleasure the title of a radio programme presented by Melvyn Bragg where the host took us as the listeners through a selection of favourites and had several readers one of
whom was Eleanor Bron. Melvyn Bragg chose readings and links to Evelyn Waugh, WB Yeats, Wordsworth,
Dickens, Kingsley Amis Gerard Manley Hopkins.
These readings were interjected with commentary by the presenter Melvyn Bragg and I must admit it was good
to relax on Christmas Day 2O11 in the UK: and listen in with pleasre to: WITH GREAT PLEASURE presented by Melvyn Bragg on BBC Radio 4!
But the news of the Duke of Edinburgh's illness tended to rather dominate the festive occasion as The Duke
is recovering from an operation in hospital and is keeping well, coupled with the No 1 in the Charts which is a
Military Wives Choir which caused a great deal of glee from the newsreader on the BBC.
In private and personal terms Santa Claus arrived on time to my door and brought me a box of cookies and I was
absolutely delighted so I dashed back to Santa's door and gave SANTA a book and one of my poems in the
person of AMIR my Moslem neighbour and unlike Nigeria we do try in the UK to continue inclusive dialogue
between our faiths and even though due to personal pressure I could not attend Midnight Mass at the
Roman Catholic Church here in England I said a few prayers for peace, love and prosperity in this world
in my private reflections and my family emailed me a MERRY CHRISTMAS from Denmark and California, United
States of America.
Lunch at the Hilton was enjoyable and I tucked into a Turkey dinner which I tucked into with a glass of white wine and a glass of water without coffee or tea! Merry Christmas Everyone and a Happy and Holy New Year in 2O12!
