Beauty for Ashes

Book Summary   by:WomanofSubstance     Original Author: Joyce Meyers
ª

I've learned that no matter how successful we could be, or the cloth, make-up, and homes we live in does not necessarily makes us happy. We choose to be unhappy when we choose to remain in the invisible shackles of yesterday.

No one but you has the ability to tear down that which binds you to yesterday or even the words of today that have been cutting your soul into pieces. For those that say that words do not hurt you; you are correct they literally kill your very being.

The Gift: Forgiveness. Forgiveness is the key, the weapon, the tool that God has given us to destroy our own shackles of pain. There are times that I've been bonded to those chains and have realized that God gave me the key to unlock myself from my own cell, and be able to walk in liberty, freedom of my anguish, and perhaps the hatred that I have carried for so many years. Joyce Meyer, the author of Beauty for Ashes was sexually molested by her own father. She lived a life of anger, she was manipulative, always having strife in her soul believing that those that wanted her friendship only wanted to use her and condemn her for her past.

I will never war against myself, dislike myself but be happy for whom I am and how unique I am in the eyes of the Creator and Lord of our souls. Many believe that religion is a crutch, but I thank God for having that crutch since it is what has helped me overcome the mental anguish, depression, that many of us have lived in including myself.

We must learn to overcome the flaws in our lives, the flaws of our soul and forgive the people that raised us and abused us. I truly believe that any person who has been sexually, mentally, or physically abuse needs to read this book. There is hope through the Word of God. How you think is who you are. Are traumas become physiological problems in our lives.

Having our minds renew by his Word is something that I agree with Ms. Myers. Thinking negative makes us negative. Criticism is a key that you are broken and we must accept ourselves for who we are and began to change the old way of thinking which she calls worldly passions into Christ passion, and allow the Holy Spirit to counsel us. The key to our freedom again is Forgiveness.
