New age in today’s world - old and new within as a challenge What is the challenge? The challenge is what ever was - the
spirituality had always leaded any positive knowledge being his inspiration, mentor and guide through out uncertainty of human existence. The most attractive and promising within the new age movement is not that much about being new as it is about being something intriguing, hidden or something that is being on a deeper level that we are use to perceive by the standard scientific and established religious models. Of course the movement is new in regard of his spreading and penetrating force in the cultural tissue - although the big parts of contents new age claims to lean on - historically might be traced not just in he ninetieth century but in any previous epoch in western culture as well. But the new about the New Age is just that specific cultural moment, or is beter to say period in the western history, of changing the perceptive point. The best approach would be if we see the new age not as a some new content that had been offered to a human knowledge but a new way and angle to perceive the tradition - nothing is oldest in human spirituality than shamanism and myth, antic
mysticism later inherited in renaissance one, up to a XIX century, but new is the revival and better, more widened understanding of these traditions. Modern science has largely contributed not just to own area but also somehow to a mystical view of the world too. Is it in contrary on the scientific method? No, the more discovering makes science the more areas are needed to be (inter)connected which is by itself not an aim of any particular science; the deeper the science goes the more obscure connections are discovered; so, from human point of view the science pretty much goes on the surface of the world running in his isolated areas. The human need is related toward the infinity of relations in the world so his life position cannot be overtaken and explained by any separate science. Therefore it was and still is quite natural for the man to turn out toward what has been throughout century’s essential and life meaning for him before the science was established in today’s form. What is new than? New is that changed approach, more opened eyes for the hidden in nature, more critical point of view instead of just scientific positivist look on the man and his world. What is the challenge? the challenge is what ever was - the spirituality had always lead any positive knowledge being his inspiration, mentor and guide through uncertainty of human existence; the positive method was established and is still here just to make more precise some of the researching findings - not to reduce the human knowledge on a separate world facts and data as a bondage of man’s perspective.
