Heaven seems to most of us to be a fascinating mystery with angels and countless stars. Actually, God's Word tells us that
heaven is also a place with pearly gates and streets paved with gold. The question that seems to be upmost in our finite minds is: What will we do in heaven?
We know instinctively that we will be close to our Creator, joyful in His Presence. Once again we will be reunited with our loved ones who have gone to heaven before us. It stands to reason that we will spend a certain amount of time getting reaquainted with them, so to speak.
The Book of Genesis records what the Garden of Eden was like before the fall of man. It was a place of perfect beauty complete with trees, flowers, herbs, fruit, animals and perfect weather. Adam worked to tend the Garden but did not sweat to do it.
Things were beautiful and the work assigned by God was easy.
Apparently, according to Scripture in the 21st and 22nd chapters of Revelation, the earth will revert back to it's original state of perfection. Matthew 25:23 tells us that those of us who have been faithful over the little matters on earth now, will be made rulers over many things then.
Modern science has discovered a myriad of
galaxies that were previously unknown. What could be the purpose of so many galaxies? Ephesians 2:6 states that those of us who believe are already seated in heavenly places and that we will receive God's favor as well as participate in His plan for the ages.
Suppose these galaxies were created for us to rule over and tend, even as Adam tended the Garden. This is a fascinating possibility and worthy of serious reflection. Perhaps God's plan for the ages is greater and more complex than any of us have ever considered. After all, I Corinthians 2:9 declares that eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love Him.
