Islam - a Religion of Peace or Persecution?

Book Summary by: seherb1

Original Author: Seher Chowdhry
Lately we have witnessed a lot of tension where it has been claimed that religion was the culprit. People now further themselves
from any hint or sign of religion and prefer the path of atheism. When does mankind get out of control in the name of religion, when people sacrifice lives by crashing planes into buildings because of what they believe? When people create offensive drawings of a respectable man of utmost respect and status? Or terrorizing a country because you believe them to be sinners? No religion teaches violence. Refer to their ancient scriptures and you will see that their teachings were on the side of peace, and that goes the same for Islam. The most violence seems to be linked to Islam, people wish to force it upon everyone regardless of how anyone feels about it. However, you can't make anyone like anything under force. Islam has and forever will teach peace. Muslims refer to two major sources for their teachings: The Holy Quran - the book containing the Word of GodThe Holy Prophet Muhammad of Islam (may God be pleased with him) - the one who taught us this religion. These sources do not contradict each other, on the contrary what they say happens to support each other very well. The Quran was revealed by God to Prophet Muhammad, it became a source of valuable knowledge to use in conduct in everyday life. The Quran was to be a guide to the pathway leading to God, and Prophet Muhammad portrayed the perfect example as to how one should be. He displayed such great and exceptional character that even those who wished to cease the growth of Islam and destroy it came to acknowledge this fact. He was always honest and true, he never deceived or hurt anyone, everybody respected him....until, under divine command, he claimed to be a Prophet sent by God and to worship God alone instead of idols. That was the point where they all left him, save a few converts who strongly believed in him with their hearts. They all thought he was mad to make such a claim, making them give up the religion of their forefathers, it sounded utterly proposterous. But that didn't stop the Holy Prophet, he continued to preach and Islam grew larger and larger. The Muslims had suffered 13 years of persecution before they were allowed to defend their religion. They were in exile trying to survive and live in peace, when their enemies were on their tail. There was no escape and their options seemed to have run out, so God had given them the go ahead to fight back, and they won. This is known as a form of Jihad, meaning struggle, where you fight to defend your religion. Sadly it is a right that is being abused by extremists who have taken Islam completely out of context. Some may have thought that Islam was unfair to women, when Islam saved them by granting them a high status, otherwise there would be no hope for women. Islam taught to care for the poor and unfortunate, to help someone whenever they're in need. Nowhere is it encouraged to cause havoc and chaos around the world. It only encourages peace.Islam is anything but a religion for terrorists, terrorists aren't even fit to be called human. Those who meaninglessly kill others WILL be questioned by God and made to answer for their actions. We will all be questioned when our time comes. Nevertheless Islam's primary teachings will always stay on the side of peace.
