GOD IS DEAD

Book Summary by: akpor

Original Author: MARVIN OGO
GOD IS DEAD
When in the late eightieth century, Friedrich Nitezsche, son of a Lutheran minister wrote on the level
of atheism in Germany and Europe, there was a lot of controversy on the question that he asked, “I seek God! I seek God!, where is God?. I’ll tell you. We have killed him, you and I, all of us are his murderers, and have buried him”. People thought that Nitezsche was mad or better still has lost his senses. The truth is Nitezsche was mixed understood, people thought that he was referring to the almighty God as being dead, nut unfortunately that is not what he met.
Nitezsche grew up in a civilization that explain everything and tired them up to God, as at the time he was growing up there was a great consciousness of God in Germany and almost the whole of Europe, there was Christian discipline, the society was morally balanced, to state the obvious it was a humane society, but as he was growing up he began to notice some kind of changes, he was quick to project into the changing decadence of Western civilization and culture, the low morality and the worldly way Christianity is being practiced. He watched with dissatisfaction how science has taken the place of God in the life of Europe, how men now try to explain natural phenomenon with science, this was during the period of the rebirth of knowledge, issues that where previously explained religiously before now were being given another meaning, morality was thrown to the wind and Christianity was now being practiced worldly.
Having seen the behavioral attitudes of men in his time as distinct from the time of old he came up with the idea that we have killed God and that the death of God means freedom for man, i.e. is to say having lost the consciousness of God in us we are now free to do anything since we no longer obey the laws of God, this has translated to mean freedom for man, but he warned that man is not completely free because God is dead, he stated that before God died he left the law of cause and effect to governed man.
All that Nitezsche was trying to communicate to the world is that we have lost the consciousness of God in us that has guided all our actions and thoughts in time past and that since our attitude is a universal one he therefore claimed that we have all killed God and have buried him. What he aim to achieve with this is that we should all try to revert to the ways of God or we will all be faced with a society that has no moral principles and has completely lost to knowledge of God.
If one look at our society to day the predictions of Nitezsche has come to pass, we live in a world that is faced with all kind of immoral behaviors, but the truth is the knowledge of God has arose, but yet the society has not improved morally.
