Marriage Is Natural
Clearly, man and woman are equal members of the human race, but they are different in physical and psychological. The attraction finds its greatest fulfillment in what is called Marriage or Matrimony. Therefore, built on a natural attraction, is itself natural  and good and somehow directed to generation or procreation of children. The sex organs, male and female, are clearly intended for this purpose.

Marriage Is A Social Matter
It affects society the way of living of people, the population. While it depends on the personal choice of the man and the woman, it is not a merely private matter. Its celebration is always a public act. It brings about sometimes a change of name, sometimes a change of residence, and always a change of status. It is noted in public records.

Marriage Is A Sacred And Religious Matter
Marriage is sacred because man and woman, made by God, exercise their their spiritual powers to accept one another and to live together as husband and wife. Marriage is consider to be a religious matter, because religion deals with sacred matters. In all kinds of people, primitive and civilized, there are usually some ceremonies of religious significance connected with marriage. Blessing and prayers are said for the couple, their children and their long life.

For Catholics, Marriage Is A Sacrament
The word ‘Sacrament’ emphasizes the sacred, religious nature of marriage. Sacrament means sign. The sacrament of marriage means that it is a sign of deeply spiritual effect. It binds them more closely to each other, it imparts to them a special share of Christ’s friendship, Christ blessed marriage in a special way and it grants them a store of spiritual help enabling them to live worthily in their new, married state.

Divorce
Divorce is a very modern idea. Previously, for countless centuries among all kinds of people, marriage was exclusive, that is, between one man and one woman. Moreover, it was permanent and indissoluble. The ancient formula, still used, shows this “Until death do us part”. If there was a practice of having several wives or several husbands either successively or simultaneously, it was an exception by contrast with the rest of the human race.

Marriage ought to be permanent and indissoluble for three reasons:

a)      For the sake of the partners, especially the woman
b)      For the sake of the children who need their parents for such a long time and
c)      For the sake of marriage and the family as institutions of Nation and Church.

Once divorce is allowed, it creates more divorces because people enter marriage without true commitment. The ultimate authority against divorce is Jesus Christ, who in condemning divorce among the Jews, said “ It was not so from the beginning”., that is when  God created man and woman and gave them to each other. Then He said, “What God has put together, let no man separate”.
