When a story ends, that’s where you would expect it to be, at the end but when the story begins at the end, then it must end at the beginning. So, as this story unfolds the delicacies of the
beginning and ending are there to be seen but as it turns out the
middle of the story is home to both. It is a story of building blocks, a story that could be used as a moral, not a ‘boy crying wolf’
moral but a general tool for learning a lesson, a lesson of compromise.
The question of how to build the blocks never came in to it. It was purely a question of
technique and what
method was most appropriate. There were times in the beginning when the technique was again questioned and a
change occurred. It was after the first change was made and the second had been given its opportunity, that the third technique was mentioned. The work was steady and progressive using the first two methods but with the mention of the third technique, it was imperative that it too was evaluated.
Then it became apparent, the solution, the
wall half built, the method established. The wall could be finished, from the middle. The story has it’s ending and it’s beginning, without the middle, neither could have been achieved. The moral is of compromise, and experiment to gain the optimum solution. The idea is to sample all techniques, to profit from the meeting of minds.
