A Lesson is Learned But The Damage is Irreversible

Website Review by: YappingDog

Is the webcomic dream diary of a warped genius overly fond of indulging in stilton sandwiches topped off with generous helpings
of L.S.D. just before bedtime. Like those crazed night visions it makes a twisted kind of sense, in a way that you could never explain to even the most patient and attentive of counsellors. Don’t ask me why it follows that elephants bathing in custard springs should get ringworm, it isn’t the kind of logic that makes sense outside of that world. “A therefore B therefore C” is how you’re expected to develop a rational argument, A Lesson Is Learned presents irrational arguments, along the lines of Zombie therefore Eroticism therefore Death by flaming monkey dung from above, it’s a hell of a kick to the cranium but there’s something about it that just feels so right. Like the universe has been drawn as a coloured barchart but broken free of its axis, it’s as mixed up, garbled and incomprehensible as life itself, maybe that’s what gives it its appeal, or maybe people just like being confused in strange and innovative new ways, makes a change from the bland bamboozlings that we get caught by everyday.
Make sure you read it before embarking on any long and costly drug expeditions, you’ll find it cheaper, wittier, considerably less addictive and life destroying and if you keep a dishcloth on hand to mop up any ear leakage after your brain has melted I don’t see any reason why viewing it should cause any physical change in your environment. You might even achieve a kind of enlightenment, a psychic blow that’ll knock you off your feet and have you floating in the air for a minute or two, it’ll wear off pretty soon but there might be a little bit of that moment that you’ll carry around with you for much longer. Start looking for the absurd in everything around you, the world’s like a magic eye puzzle in reverse, squint at it for long enough in a certain kind of way and all you’ll see is little red bricks piled up on each other, certainties, natural law, all the little trivialities in place to separate reality from the hallucinogenic astral plane. Wait till no one’s looking and then kick one of the bottom bricks away, smirk as the mosaic crumbles in a waterfall of shattering glass.
