Thailand Tourism Authority

Website Review by: AjarnSim

Thailand’s tourism authority or the TAT has sponsored and created an extremely powerful website at www.tourismthailand.org
and if you are considering visiting the Kingdom of Thailand or you simply want information concerning the country, you will find everything you need on this all encompassing website. Truly its only weakness just might be just how much information you can find, because when I look at this site I find myself traveling from one live link to the next until far too much time has been annihilated.
Without a doubt there is so much interactive linkage here that your choices just might overwhelm you. In all there are more than 75 live links for you to choose from on just the front page of the site, not to mention a survey for those of you who have already visited the kingdom and would like to make comments on what it was that you enjoyed the most. There are also Baht exchange rates, temperatures, and even information about his Magesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. So with so much to sift through allow me to give you a bit of directional advice, ‘go to the bottom of the page and focus on the travel directory box which is located in the middle column.’ The reason I advise this is because most of the rest of the links are VERY SPECIFIC, such as links to individual islands or towns, so unless you are a veteran traveler here you might not want to start there. So if you are just getting started scroll to this travel directory box and this gives you some primary categories in which to focus your search: accommodations, attractions, transportations, food, and shopping.
Another feature I highly recommend is to the right of this directory and it is a month by month listing of the special activities in the kingdom. This is a nation of festivals and celebrations, so if you are limited by your job’s timeline and vacation time you might want to pick your month for visiting and then check out what is going on. There is something magical happening every single month, but to be honest, the best time in the world to come to the Kingdom of Thailand is April for the Songkron Festival. You may know it as the biggest water fight in the world! If you’ve never lived through it, you’ve never lived.
Without a doubt the Tourism Authority of Thailand has constructed a most accommodating and well presented website here. My only caution is if you are in a freezing climate you may not want to see all the beach photos and if you are trapped in your day to day work a day world you might not want to see all of the relaxing locations in your current condition.
