The All Music Guide website is a must for anyone interested in any kind of music. This is a very comprehensive site - it
contains extensive
information about music genres, bands, individual musicians and albums. AMG states that many of its reviews are written by experts; although the essence of what constitutes an expert could be open to interpretation. In addition, visitors to the
website should realise that the reviews are all written (presumably) by Americans, and the writing may or may not reflect an American perspective, whatever that might be. As an Australian, one of the main differences I notice is the alternative spellings of certain words. Having said that, AMG must be congratulated for attempting to record data about the world's music on a site that requires multiple links in order to facilitate this process.
The All Music Guide website is regularly updated to feature various genres, artists or albums on its main page. While this will no doubt be of interest to many visitors, more will probably visit the site to search for specific information on artists about which they themselves are curious. I have visited AMG many times to read its reviews about artists and albums of interest to me and I've always been fascinated by the different opinions I find. That is how I recommend people approach this website - you use it to find precise information about a particular artist or album. Nevertheless, once you locate what you're after you may feel compelled to explore further as a result of the links provided to related artists or styles of music. Howevever if you are searching for a succinct summary, this site is ideal, and it is only rarely that you can't find the information you want (of course you can always email them as well). I would highly recommend AMG for everyone from the casual musical observer to the most ardent music fanatic.
