I have often heard the old
proverb,
"When elephants fight, grass would get trampled!!" That proverb
came to my mind when I read that two technology giants were jostling for the top position on the idea of the touch phone. Is this "war" going to follow the usually course of other technological wars where the fight for the top position send the prices down and low enough to give the average person the hope of reaching them? If that is so, then the question needs to be asked, "What will happen to the less fancy phones?" "Is their life span coming to a close?" Is was not long ago that pundits predicted that most of our lives would be
handled through the computer but now it seems like most of our life will be handled or controlled by our phones!! What an irony!!! The little thing we carry in our pockets or hooked to some part of our acoutrements will actually be controlling us.
I think though that coming to the
market place second give Verizon the advantage. They boast faster internet access and a keypad which will keep that small market of persons who don''t trust touch sceen technology to the fullest extents. I still won''t have the intestinal fortitude of Verizon chief marketing officer and say that it will "kill" the iphone because we all know the brain power of the person who heads Apple Inc. After all, many thought the Mac computers would have been relics by now but instead they just keep getting better.
Well, it is going to be a big war and I think that this augurs well for the industry and the market place. My advice would be to don''t get too caught up as yet because the scraps which will fall will be good enough to survive happily upon.
