Website Review

This is obviously a must view website for anyone interested in current men's tennis. I am still interested in the ATP tour, despite the fact that it is now mostly dominated by men with rather dull baseline games and personalities to match. But if you are one of those who thinks that the men's tennis scene is more interesting now than it was ten or twenty years ago then by all means visit this site, where you will find news, results, information about individual players, current rankings, statistics, multimedia and of course, tennis merchandise. When you view this website you get a sense of how commercialised tennis now is - whether this is good for the game or not is a matter for debate. I don't know about you, but when players are assisted with racquet technology undreamed of before the professional era, you have to wonder how much skill and talent are actually needed to play the game. Does winning a match now come down to which player is fitter, both physically and mentally? Food for thought.
I have no doubt that the ATP is a competent organisation when it comes to the administration of men's tennis. However, I have my reservations about this website. For instance, will potential budding players feel motivated to become a player as a result of visiting this site? I hardly think so, but I could be wrong. Goodness knows we need more international representation from Australia (that is of course a separate issue). Having said all that, ATPtennis.com is probably what you would expect from a sports website; it just seems to have a rather clinical feel to it, much like the way tennis does now. There is nothing technically wrong with this website - it just makes me wistful for the days when men's tennis had more distinctive players with distinctive playing styles and distinctive personalities.
