As is fairly obvious, Enya.com is the official website of international Irish
recording artist Enya. While this website
will be the most interesting for those familiar with her music, it will also serve as an
introduction for those who know nothing about it. For myself, I am somewhat ambivalent about websites like these - what I mean is, how much content can they really generate? Or to put it another way, there is only so much you can say about an artist and his/her/their music. Having said that, there is probably more to say about Enya's music than many others in the music industry. That is to say, Enya and her music have at least twice as much meaning and substance as many other '
recording artists'. Anyway, I don't want to bore you with this topic, because what I'm writing here is supposed to be about Enya.
This website is a tribute to the music of Enya - some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. From her self-titled debut album in 1986 through to the recent release of Amarantine, Enya has (along with Nicky and Roma Ryan) created an alternative musical dimension. When you listen to her music you escape into another world; she combines her Celtic roots with a contemporary ambient sound that is virtually unparalleled. While this site might be a useful introduction or summary of Enya's music, nothing will surpass actually buying her albums and listening to them with awe. This is an example of a musician whose critical and commercial success is no accident. Although there have only been six self-contained albums over a twenty year period, this relatively minimal output is offset by the high quality level of each work. I recommend visiting this website if you appreciate musical brilliance with a timeless flavour.
