After watching the video first at You-tube, then at Sony-Radio, I
was convinced that his lecture had a good message. I am not against or
for it. I have been with one and listened to motivational speakers, and
have repeatedly listened to more. Randy''s was not far from those made
by those motivational speakers. So, he says he has months to live and
dieing. All of us are going to die. The difference is he underwent
surgery and chemotherapy so he knows how short he has to live. In all
probability, many of us will have to think and analyze what we went
through, and what we want to impart before leaving this world. He
mentioned about dreams and great parents who let him do what he wanted.
What if we had dreams but did not have parents like he had? Will his
philosophy work? Growing up in a different environment from that of
his, it might be difficult to adjust according to how he says it is. To
the audience of his video, only those who have been reared close to his
way of growing up, will benefit from it. We develop individual
mentalities and thinking from that of his, because of the influences on
how we were raised. If one, with a totally different way of thinking or
mentality would try to follow his advice, that fellow will be confused
because of the subconscious mind repelling the idea. Maybe that is what
we would call the subliminal effect. It is in the back of our minds,
unconscious about it and difficult to change.

Why am I saying this? I have been making a self-analysis for more
than years now, if not decades, why I am not as successful as others
are. I always turn back the time from where I could recall how we grew
up and were reared in the family. Although it made me aware of the
factors or reasons that made me how I think now, I just cannot simply
change it to what they call as ideal. It has been implanted in me since
I was a child. It grew in me as it is, nurtured by further influences
that support it. In short, it was a mentality fertilized and watered to
grow in me.

It is nice to hear such encouraging words and experience from people
like him. But to be more explicit about it, it is just like two
different operating systems of a computer. There are applications that
we can apply to one, but may not be good for the other. In nature,
there are living things that grow in warm and cold weather and it is
difficult, if not impossible, to force them to grow in the temperatures
they are not accustomed to. There are things that we consider to be in
general, but we must also keep in mind that there are always exceptions
to a general rule.
