QTRAX.com is the answer to the illegal
music download problems that are causing a problem around the globe.
In 2006 over 10,000 (source International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) people were sued for
downloading music off the internet with an average settlement being £1,808. Is this the kind of sum that you can afford for wanting the current number 1? The people sued were from all walks of life and some of the big downloader''s as well as average Joe just wanting the latest number 1. Sites such as Kazaa have had to pay out
huge fines (totalling around £58m) to the
record companies for allowing their users to download songs and albums off their servers.
Qtrax is now supposed to give the public what they want.
Free music. Qtrax are promising 25
million tracks that can be downloaded all for free. The Artists and record lables are funded paid by the money made from Qtrax in advertising.
Qtrax has been making a huge song and dance about their product that uses a
peer to peer network to allow the downloading of the songs. But even with James Blunt and the likes of LL Cool J being present at their launch parties have things gone wrong?
Today it has been reported that the big record lables have not yet signed any deals with Qtrax to allow the downloading of their artisits work. Qtrax still believe that they will get the deals and are pushing ahead. Rightly so too as the site has been flooded with requests to download their peer to peer software and to try and register to start downloading. Currently that is the stumbling block. Bigs are stopping the downloading and may put the site out of action before it even gets going. But with 1/2 million spent on advertising could this be one huge PR disaster?
I will update when the site or if the site gets going and we can download music - hopefully the 25 million tracks and all for free as promised!
