Jihadist group recruits students of Facebook
An investigation has revealed that
extremist organisation calling for armed
Jihad are operating on Facebook and other forums.
One of them is a succcessor ofthe
banned Al Muhajiroun. The group has the links to extremist literature written by radical clerics such as Abu Hamza al-Misri which urge for the jihad against the British and American governments and against those Muslims who vote for or assist "the kuffars" (non-believers).
Articles delude young Muslims
claiming that jihad in an appropriate form of expressing their faith. Some go even further, presenting jihad as obligatory. In addition they encourage the readers not to reveal their attitude about jihad even to their parents, claiming it is notnecessary to tell anyone about it.
Among the dubious correspondents of the forum is Mr Izzadeen who is currently charged with supporting financially terrorist activities overseas. Izzadeen used to have an account on Facebook himself, but after
detecting the dangerous content it has been banned from the
site. He reacted posting an this aggressive reaction:"You are mad. I joined this site so my supporters could add me and show their support. You take any opportunity to stamp the ummah under your heel. This is why we "rise up".
Worryingly the group has already recruited several members many of whom are British students. The government therefore appeals to universities to enhance their methods of detecting and removing the extremist groups from the academic environment.
