Social Networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo lure British youths away from doing their schoolwork. Teenagers aged between 15-19
admitted neglecting their studies because of spending time
online as the report produced by Entertainment Media Research shows.
Since this may certainly upset their parents, the
news are even less welcomed by commercial TV executives. Supposedly because of a great impact of Social Networking it will be increasingly difficult to draw attention of the teenage audience back to the TV screen.
At least some positive news are that the film and music industries are quite likely to be given more justice on the Internet since the lobbying
activities in the British Government aim to force Internet service providers to supervise more closely the activities on their websites and prevent the budding online piracy.Based on the anonymous survey 70% of Internet users admitted downloading files illegally.
