The other day I was browsing through the net and stumbled
upon this site accidentally (and quite fortunately,
I think).
What is freerice.com
about?
It is a sister site of poverty.com. It aims at donating free
rice for the
hungry people throughout the world. It is an innovative way of
distributing food by using vocabulary.
How does it work:
Confused, aren’t you? Let me explain. The site has a
vocabulary test going on. For each
correct answer, 20
grains of rice are being donated. When we are playing the game, there
are advertisements being generated at the bottom of the page. These ads are
converted into cash and this money is used to fund the food for t poor people. And
also the freerice site adjusts the difficulty level of the game according to
the person’s ability. There are totally 55 levels and only 48 levels are
achievable on an average. I personally have not crossed the 45 mark. It is
United Nations World Food Program (WFP) which does the distribution world over.
There are millions of people, like you and me, who use this site for developing
their vocabulary and for doing their part in bringing down the poverty level in
the world.
Who will benefit from
the site?
Freerice.com is a free site. As said above it benefits the
hungry people throughout the world. And in addition to that, we benefit from it
because:
