One of the more annoying problems in Flash is the Hebrew problem. The problem is that Flash refers to all types of left to right languages, therefore, even if we use an Hebrew font, we will not be able to write from right to left, but from left to right. Another problem is in the way in which Flash displays the text during the writing. In some cases, the text is not understandable and looks disorganized, therefore - the writing is hard. In this summary, there are several solutions that will help you write Hebrew in Flash.
First Solution:
Import a bitmap image, which you created in a different graphics application, which support Hebrew. The draw back of this solution is the need of large memory space for the images. Therefore, if you select this solution, make sure that the original images will take as low as possible memory space, and limit the size of the movie, so it will not be able to enlarge it beyond its predefined size. A recommended option, in this case, is to change the imported images to vector images: select the image, and select the menu option: Modify -> Trace BitMap. This operation turns the bitmap to a vector image.
Second solution:
Write backward: Open a text box, and write in it the following: "תירבעב טפשמ ךל הנה" (just copy and paste this one!). Off course you need to use an Hebrew font. This is not a recommended solution: You''ll be spending a lot of time and effort on writing everything backwards.
Third solution:
Writing using an external Hebrew writing program. I choose to demonstrate it using the GOHeb program (you can off course use any other program you like). In the Text Confirmation write something, while done writing, press "Convert". Now the backwards text will be copied to the computer''s memory. Return to Flash, open a new text box, copy your text and change the font and other required attributes.
