The point made by Marie Claire is that Cher was involved with Tom Cruise when she was 39 years old Tom Cruise was only 23 ..... I suppose in the old days before the introduction of modern divorce that would have been seen as a /scandal/but these days its water off a ducks back.
So I suppose Cher and Tom Cruise were /young/at that point in time .. but they have gone their separate ways. The difference is made for us to observe which is that in the past it was alright for a man to marry a very young woman but it was frowned upon for a woman to marry a very young man. But then I guess, Cher didnt marry Tom Cruise so that lets both of them off the hook!
