Title: Improving Home and Office Security – The
Foot Mat Intruder Alarm System with Restricted Access.
The problem of security in Nigeria is assuming alarming dimension. Today we live in a dangerous world. Protecting one’s family, business (es) and possessions is of prime concern. Security systems are ubiquitous and have become an integral part of society. The demand for security systems will increase in the future, therefore improvements to these systems are inevitable as technology advances with time. An alarm system will continue to form the basis of security protection scheme for the foreseeable future. These alarm system are either contact operated or by remote control. The Law Enforcement Agencies do not seem to be coping adequately with this problem. There is an urgent need by all to assist the police in tackling this problem by using electronic gadgets. One of such is the intruder alarm system with restricted access. The system is designed to operate in such a manner that the alarm circuit will only be activated when an intruder steps on the foot mat. Once activated, the security system will deny access to any restricted environment and automatically the security units are alerted. Thereafter access can only be granted to person having a handheld infrared remote control device (code holder). The security system also activates hidden cameras mounted as surveillance units in the protected environments automatically. The developed security system has applications in banks, homes and it has proved highly efficient and reliable in practical situations.
