This is a very dangerous site in my opinion. It is setup for teenagers to chat in a virtual avatar world. Once you sign up,
you can make your own chat room. You can customize the way your avatar looks and design your personal chat room to look the way you like. Now this may sound like fun for your pre-teen or teenage child, but is it safe. I believe that Meez.com has started to give the young teenage crowd a place to meet. Since most parents are now aware of all the dangers of myspace for a young child. What these companies dont understand or choose to think about is that. In this day and age children are force fed the idea that being older and dressing like celebs is the way to be. So when our children get to sites like Meez they think ok cool i'll make my avatar look like me but i'll also make it dress like my favorite star. It's all about them feeling like they are apart of something that they have control over. So then they go the next step. When they enter in their personal info they add a couple years to their age, or in their about me section they put things about them that make them older or seem more mature. Now i know this is designed to let the kids have fun and chat with their friends but! Has anyone not seen the show To Catch A Predator. Local Law Enforcement across the country needs to continue to keep programs like this one going. Because these predators are never going to go away.The kids now are living in a time where they think that gossip is true info(reliable source) they think that TMZ is the only news they need to know. They look up to people like Parris Hilton, 50 Cent, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, or John Cena, Miley Cyrus. So in conclusion i think Meez.com has just opened the door for young children to become victim to sexual predators. This site has affected my life personally. My 13 year old daughter has been using this Meez.com website for months now without my permission. She has been using it while she is at her mothers house every other weekend for visitations. I cant believe that her mother would allow her to sit at the computer the whole weekend day and night. I recently found out that my daugther is using this site when she decided not to come home from school yesterday. Apparently my child told some friends at school that she was going to run away to meet some boy she met on Meez.com who lives in a nearby city about 45min away. So my daughter left school got on a different school bus with her friend and went to her house where she had planned to leave and meet the boy. Thank God that her friends mother is one of the few parents now a days who is aware of the children that come in and out of her house. After the mother questioning my daugther for about an hour. She got her to tell the mother that she was at her house without my permission and had planned to leave her house to go meet a boyfriend. Meanwhile i was on the phone back and forth with the principal of the school and he was telling me, that after looking into this matter he found out about the rumors of her running away to be with this boy. The principal finnally tracked down the person she went home with called them and the mother brought my daughter home. These type of situations happen all the time. Now if my daughter would have had a different plan to just go meet this boy(or man) think about what could've happen to my child. Now after searching my daughters Meez.com site i have found shocking things. Meez.com has a page where these kids can make alternate avatars. Kinda like a backup or choice between which one you want to use during chat. My daughter has a second avatar who is by the looks of the picture pregnant! Yes pregnant why would this site even make that an option for the avatar. Its just plan stupid there is no reason that should be a option.
So Meez.com is a dangerous site because it puts our children at more of a risk with all the options it has to allow these kids to meet each other...................
