Abstract: Knowledge
Management System is becoming increasingly part of any business environments. Knowledge Management Systems
are expected to give new dimensions to the world economy particularly those dealing with areas of health care, R&D work etc. This book is very timely and is considered very valuable for students taking UG/PG level courses in knowledge
management. This book is equally valuable for practitioners and consultants involved in dealing with emerging technologies to develop Knowledge Based Systems ( KBS). The book is well organized in three sections covering experience in knowledge management system and practices, designing enterprises knowledge management system
architecture, and implementing km solution. The author has covered number of case studies; highlighting the use of Knowledge Management System and improvement in business processes related to productivity, quality, and delivery time. The author has covered areas like resistance to change for existing environments to Knowledge Management System and its solution. In the last section, which relates to implementation of Knowledge Management System, the author has covered areas such as human factor, data warehousing like barriers to adoption of Knowledge Management System.
The author has covered two very valuable concepts namely multi-layer architecture of Knowledge Management System and web based Knowledge Management System. These are explained in a very simple language and would be quite handy for planners of e-commerce applications.
