Amusingly enough I tuned into quite by chance the speech given by former
President Geroge Bush accompanied by his lovely
wife ... Laura on his Homecoming .... he made a few witty remarks including wishing the new
President Barack Obama ... his successor .. all the best.
He hopes that history will judge him kindly and he plans to ......... put his feet up, make coffee for his wife Laura, go fishing and take the dog for a walk and so on until he whiles away the hours of the day. It will be a change of gear ... though I note the US has automatic gears .. as we used to say in the 1960s. Slip down into a lower gear those IBMers said to me and I did when I drove in England (though my Saab had automatic gears in California so .. make of it what you will!) over my 20 years in teaching plus my career in The Foreign Office Downing St London Englan (Former Spy .. and now author in UK and USA!)
But back to Mr Bush .. he has got no fear of looking in the mirror ... nor is he going to let taking surveys bend his mind or change his way of thinking ........... I took a survey from The Times, and I won a shopping voucher for the great British Store Marks and Spencer ........... a treat at Christmas last.
Mr Bush appears to be in fine form and shall I comment .. is fighting fit even though he is now the Ex President of the United States of
America. Mr Bush welcomes the New Man in the Job ... President Barack Obama, and he refers to Obama as a "Good" Man! What a lovely thing to say ...
