Ozy and Millie is one of the sweetest comic strips you’ll find online that doesn’t attempt to substitute Ahhhh’s in for laughter. It follows the adventures and introspections of Ozymandias, a wolf cub with a passion for zen and spiritual enlightenment, and Millicent a fox cub with a passion for just about everything under the Sun. Both are far more cute than should legally be allowed, but all attempts at arresting them have resulted in the officers concerned going into cuteness induced comas, so it seems that they’re both going to be walking the streets for quite some time to come.
I don’t know whether you’ve ever read Calvin and Hobbes? Ozy and Millie is its spiritual brother, although next to it Calvin and Hobbes seems like the kind of brain damaged sibling it might have to wheel out to the park and spoon baby food into its mouth. It begins where Calvin and Hobbes peaked, if you loved that strip this is going to require you to make up new words to describe how incredibly blown away you are, but even if you hated it Ozy and Millie is different enough that it’s still worth checking out. O&M is to C&H as Diet Pepsi is to Regular.
Quirky, fun, quick, thoughtful, heart-warming, original and inventive, it’s a real comic lover’s comic. Full of stuff that’ll keep coming back to you days later and making you laugh at the most inappropriate moments, it’s a very bad thing to read a few days before the funeral of your partner’s parent, but other than that it comes heartily recommended at any time day or night, stressful or relaxing, cold or sunny, whatever. If you were going through the archive when a nuclear bomb came down your street, and reading an Ozy and Millie was therefore fully representative of you as your last act on this planet, odds are you’d get to heaven without any major regrets. Read Ozy and Millie to avoid the tortured pain of having lived a wasted life.
