...... it was an informative and well attended event and I was pleased to be present. It was during the time that Salman
Rushdie was under the Fatwa ... i.e. death threats from his fellow Muslims as a result of his book ... Satanic Verses .......... and he had to go into hiding such was the stress he was suffering.
Only this morning the BBC reported that JK
Rowling is now in the "hot seat! as her work .. she is a best selling children's author/Harry Potter - has been deemed "satanic". An Austrian Priest has condemned JK Rowling's Harry Potter books as "satanic" and as a result this Austrian Priest has got promotion from is Holiness Benedict XVl in The Catholic Church internationally.
While I may like or dislike books by fellow authors nevertheless I still argue for their rights as writers to make their point of view known to the world .... afterall in certain cases they reflect Society as it is and sometimes we dont want to know! Possibly the reason for censorship .... we want all the nice news and dont like the bad news ...... nice work ..
