In the wake of the discussion about Wendy Cope and said lady writer and her opinion on the post of Poet Laureate .......Cope
doesnt want the job and she thinks it should be abolished ... I read with interest that Carol Ann Duffy was rejected for the job of Poet Laureate on the grounds that she was
Homosexual ... lesbian .. and websites quote former PM Tony Blair as saying that Duffy wouldnt be suitable for the post .......... these two women writes are in company with Philip Larkin who rejected the post too.
However, the issue of Lesbianism is a factor - at the moment - in art and poetry and today I received a blog from APP on the subject of the ban in Egypt of a film made there on the same theme of lesbianism ........homosexual films are reported as unacceptable .. and the Director of the film "Out of Control" ... - is in the hot seat and lawyers are preparing a case against the showing of this Egyptian film on the subject of lesbianism!
Coming as it does the day before Valentine's Day I got another blog too from Reuters on the disapproval in India of Valentine's Day as it evokes a notion of lust and
celebration of love ... which India generally speaking broadly rejects apart from a group of girls who are fans of a good looking cricketer and love the idea of celebrating Valentine's Day as a celebration of love not lust! Nice work!
