At the first sight, Badoo can look like a version a bit more graphically attractive of Facebook and nothing more. Looking better, Badoo results to be a totally different website. While Facebook is designed for helping people to keep contacts with old friends, and also for collecting and sharing photos, Badoo is planned for other functions.
Badoo is thought and realized to find girls (if you are looking for girls) and boys (if you are looking for boys). Of course, nobody forbids you to add old friends to your contacts. But everything in this social network is projected to attract new people. Your photos will be exposed, if you don't put explicit limitations for viewing your material. You can find and see girls and boys private pictures, you can read the message that everybody post, and you also able to send message to everyone you like. Many shy persons use Badoo for finding interesting new friendships.
In Facebook the communication is not so free: you can be part of other people's life only if they accept your invite of friendship.
One of my friend who lives in Pisa, named Milo, got a huge quantity of girls through Badoo. How he did? He created his personal page on Badoo, then he uploaded some photos, and he started to write stories or "deep" thoughts and reflections about the meaning of the universe and love... Actually, I guess that he copied these thoughts and stories from some website or from his sister's book. Then, he got steady in contacting everyday some newcomer on the website, and after a lot of messaging, he got the first appointment. This story has been repeated hundreds of times: he doens' remember also the number of girls that he dated, thanks to Badoo. Of course, this is not a method for finding a serious relationship. It's like a game: and many girls like to play, as well as the boys.
Following Milo's example, I've tried to know some girl through Badoo. But I was not satisfied at last, and finally I decided to turn off the computer and go away for meeting somebody face to face, without all these efforts to build some artificial figure on me.
