Myspace Cut Two Thirds of Its International Staff

Article Abstract by: Shendhy

Internet social network MySpace, which belongs to NewsCorp media conglomerate, headed by tycoon Rupert Murdoch, cut two thirds
of its international staff, which will affect about 300 employees and close "at least" four of its offices outside the U.S. , as the company reported.
The cuts are part of the restructuring process of MySpace, which last week announced that it would dismiss 30% of its workforce in the U.S., which kept about 1,000 workers.
"Under the proposed plan, MySpace placed on review for a possible restructuring of its existing offices in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Sweden and Spain," explained the CEO of the company, Owen Van Natta.
Also, MySpace has indicated that after completing this restructuring, London, Berlin and Sydney will become the primary regional centers of the company on its international operations.
"We are focusing on London, Berlin and Sydney for two simple reasons. These are markets where we have many users and the resources to compete effectively, and are centers of international trade in the first order that a robust presence MySpace can help the company develop new and innovative partnerships, "added Van Natta.
CHINA BRANCH
MySpace China and the 'joint venture' group in Japan are not affected by the restructuring plans.
NewsCorp bought MySpace in the summer of 200 5 for $ 580 million (432 million), when the site was regarded as the leading online social network, leadership questioned by other sites now as' Facebook 'or' Twitter '.
In fact, recent data 'ComScore' suggests that 'Facebook' has 307.1 million users around the world, compared to 126.9 million, and MySpace for the first time in its history to overcome a subsidiary NewsCorp in the U.S. to reach 70.28 million users, compared with 70.26 million MySpace.
