What
Tourism means to me
I strongly perceive tourism to be an art. It should be learned practiced and developed like any other art. The emphasis should be more on development. Learning and practicing are self-made as far as this is concerned. Tourism is an offshoot of exploration.
Tourism helps to bring out the significance of a country, persons, animals, place and period. The ancient and modern wonders of the world have brought glory, fame and laurels for ages.
Today tourism has become an industry .The beneficiaries are innumerable. The Traveler becomes happy with the cherished memories and experiences. It also turns to be a source of living for traders, guides and hoteliers living in the vicinity of the area.
Whenever I think of tourism I am remained of
Courtallam, more popularly referred as the ‘spa of South India’.
It is painful to hear that it does not share any significance in the
tourist map. There aren’t even a sufficient number of travelogues to disseminate the
natural heritage and tourist interests of this place. Despite all these the very utterance of the word ‘courtallam’ creates anxiety and pleasure in the minds of people residing in heat terrain zones like Chennai.
This place is equally famous for religious practices and sentiments. The awe-inspiring wonder is that people can have
bath in all the 9 falls in courtallam. Infact it is not possible to have bath in world famous Niagara Falls or our very own Jog falls.
There should be many places like this. We should advocate bringing them under public domain.
There are many man made tourist sites. The natural ones always stand stone edifice to scerene beauty and originality. It pains to see the current trend of according less or no importance to natural venues. I feel that tourism will flourish only when these spots are developed.
I am sure that Tourism can develop international relations among nations. Nations who are otherwise known as archrivals can come forward to enter into strategic business partnerships. This will improve the economy; nurture the tourism industry in the home nation besides render mutual benefit.
Tourism is one venue, which paves way for people of diverse backgrounds to come together. Infact people make new friends, learn new culture, and realise the myths and misinterpreted
facts.
Human psychology tends a person to be easily prone to predetermined notions. Tourism can effectively bridge the defect and expose the truth.
Tourism has to grow in a long way. It will also facilitate teamwork, tendency to share, and many more
emotional values as people have to network for one thing or the other and above all it will ensure leaning.
I don’t restrict tourism to a commercial activity. There are lot of historical and geographical facts, emotional bonding and sentimental values attached to it, besides the monetary aspects.
