Six export
consortiums of Piedmont will be taking part in this up-coming edition of Vinitaly China 2006 in Shanghai: Turin
Export, Vinitaly, Unifood, Piemonte Export, Templum Vini and Furs from Italy. They represent more than 60 businesses, mostly of the enological sector and to a lesser degree the gastronomy sector that will present their excellences.
Some of these
consortiums are participating in the initiative for the fourth year, a sign that they consider the Chinese market rewarding for their exports and responsive to Italian
products. To promote the spread of the culture of Piedmont wines, tasting laboratories are being organised that will involve not only the sector operators, but also the consumers.
The growing popularity of Italian cuisine in China, seen in the rapid increase of eating places like Italian-style trattorias, pizzerias and restaurants, are giving a notable impulse to the consumption of Italian wine and food products in the country.
There has also recently been the opening of the first School of International Cooking in China, in Shanghai: the Piedmontese ICIF, which is contributing to further attract the interest of the Chinese people to this sector, which has in the Piedmont Region an area of excellence of Italian production.
