National flag is a horizontal tricolour of deep saffron(Kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark
green at the bottom.In the centre of the white band is a navy blue wheel(chakra).Its design is that of the wheel which appears on the abacus of the Saranath Lion Capital of Asoka.It has 24 spokes.The ratio of the width and length of the flag is 2:3.After getting freedom from the British rule the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the design of the national flag on July 22, 1947.

The National Flower of India is 'LOTUS'. Lotus or water lily is an aquatic plant of Nymphaea species with broad floating leaves and bright fragrant flowers that grow only in shallow waters.The leaves and flowers float and have long stems that contain air spaces.The big attractive flowers have many petals overlapping in a symmetrical pattern.Lotus represents detachment. The water touches it but cannot make it wet.Similarly, the spiritual mind endures all adversities with a smile (sorrows around but not sorrowful ).
National Fruit of India :MANGO - the fleshy fruit of the
tree Magnifera indica - is the National Fruit of INDIA. It is eaten ripe or used green for pickles, cookings,etc.Mango is a rich source of Vitamins A, C and D. In India there are over 100 varieties of mangoes,in different sizes, shapes and colours, for example, malgova,neelam, banganapalli and so on.In Tamilnadu a city called Salem is famous for mangoes.Andrapradesh is famous for banganapalli.
National Tree of India :The mighty Banyan is the National Tree of India.The banyan tree is a veritable micro habitat for countless creatures.It releases maximum ozone in the atmosphere.Like this banyan tree, India shelters all races, castes, creed and religion.
National animal of India :
Tiger is the National animal of India. Whenever I think about tiger I remember the poem The Tiger ,written by William Blake.The tiger is scientifically called the Panthera tigris(Linna eus).The combination of grace, strength, agility and enormous power has earned the tiger great respect and high esteem.The Indian peacock is the national bird of India.Peacock is a colourful swan-sized bird with a fan-shaped crest of feathers on its head and a long slender neck.The male(in the picture) is more beautiful than the female with a spectacular bronze-green tail of around 200 elongated feathers.The dance of the male by fanning out the tail(just like in the picture) and quivering the feathers is a gorgeous sight.Peacock represents the colourful life.
