No modelling contracts, billion-dollar sponsorships,
politics… This has been the purest World Cup in
years, where
football was
first, second and third.
Teams that were supposed to be
good were good. There
were no surprising wins or defeats, the so-called little teams are no more. The
new arrivals gave as much thrill as the “Old” teams. Terrible qualifying and
preparation campaigns turned into amazing World Cup ones. We are very likely to
think it unfair to wait four years for just one month, but those 30 days can
bring more happiness and deception to certain individuals that their lives
themselves. I count myself as one. That first round in the World Cup in Germany just
brought back my faith in football. No money, politics, etc. will get in the way
of real football. There are still some romantics that will give everything for
their shirt and country, and are in control of millions of hearts. Thank you
all 32 teams for bringing back my football insanity.
