eBay

Website Review by: SteveMar

eBay is an example of the very best in Internet sites. The great value of the Internet is its ability to bring people together.
What better then than the world’s biggest car boot sale. You’d be hard pressed to think of something that you cannot buy on this site: furniture, holidays, toys, clothing, music, sports goods and so on, ad infinitum. The site itself is very well organised and has an excellent search facility, so there is no difficulty in finding what you want. The basic premise of the site is that it operates on the basis of an auction house. The seller puts an item up for sale and then people bid for it on-line. There can be few people who do not enjoy an auction and the process adds an element of excitement – and sometimes, frustration – to the shopping process; and it’s always very satisfying when your bid wins. One does need to take care as there are many bidders who wait to the very last moment to place their bids. There is a facility on the site whereby you can be notified by email if you are outbid. For those who do not wish to take part in the auction process, one can also type in the price you are prepared to pay and then forget about the auction. Every time a new bid is placed, you will automatically outbid it by a certain amount until your limit is reached. It is well worth taking part in these auctions. Although eBay is a well-known site and has millions of users, there are still a great many bargains to be had.I have used this site, and bought from it, many times. Although there are no cast-iron guarantees, and one should always be careful when buying on-line, I have never yet been disappointed. All the goods I have ordered have been sent promptly and in exactly the condition specified on the site.
