Semantic Web up to the recent time is realized as the name for next generation web infrastructure, but with the evolution of technologies such as Xml and RDF and with development of new languages like RDF schema and DAML+OIL Semantic Web technique is advancing rapidly. This paper provides a comprehensive view of Semantic Web, identifies the need for Semantic Web and explains in detail the technologies comprising the Semantic web. Detailed description of different literature and the important relationships with hypermedia are analyzed and summarized. Finally an organized research plan describes the issues in developing Semantic Web from the perspective of the aspects in hypermedia research
