Just now I read an article that a lady has returned from arduous 450-km trek from Srinagar to Leh, which she undertook to celebrate her 70th birthday. Wow what a spirit !!! I really salute the people who enjoy life after retirement and never ever think that they are old. In their
heart they are always
young. This article actually reminded me of my
grandfather. He was always full of energy. Though he had suffered a heart attack but his
spirits were never down. Always ready to try out new things in life. He
used to follow a strict routine of getting up early and going for long walk. That is it. After that full day was spent in reading newspapers,
discussing the news, discussing new fashion, dishes, books, etc, discussion could be on any topic. And he could discuss it with people of any age. As he was a professor in his working life he always wanted to help children with their doubts. He was a
self made man, who finished his doctorate while working and raising a family of five. He started working at the age of 12 to help his mother in taking care of his brother and sister but he kept on studying also. He used to love movies. You will never find him sitting and brooding over past or hardships he has to face or that he has now aged or ….. He will be always talking about something and making the other person feel at home. Even if he is alone he will be humming or drumming his fingers. He used to always say I am the
YOUNG MAN OF SEVENTY and soon I will be
YOUNG MAN OF EIGHTY. I think we should take cue from people like this. These days a 3 yr old starts saying I am bored. A thirty year old says I am getting old and takes therapies for stress relief. Will all this happen if you remain young at heart?
