I'm not sure exactly when iTunes, Napster, and things of the like became so popular, but recently I've been seeing dramatic
effects. All over Chicago record stores and blockbusters have been closing. A month ago Tower Records went out of buisness, the internet is killing the need for stores, and while it might be convinient, slowly but surely our morals, our day to day lives, our economy will become bankrupt. We strut down the street with iPods, PDAs, laptops, and gameboys, for the sake of strutting, we take our burdens with us and cast aside our will to observe.
Remember when music was personal, remember when pop
culture, was a counter-culture. But not anymore, a needledoesn't sink into a dusty groove, it sinks into dry skin to take us somewhere we feel is right. Music has lost its power and its ambiguity in a haze of clits and dumbfound lyrics. Rock 'n' Roll is dead.
