Media Matters for America is an American non-profit organization founded in 2004 by David Brock, a former conservative journalist.
The organization's website, mediamatters.org, is "dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media." The regularly updated website scrutinizes and correctsboth conservative commentators and the mainstream media. Articles on the site document both specific examples of news misinformation as well as theoverarching trends related to faulty news reporting. Articles can be searched and filtered either by topic, by media personality, by radio or television show, or by network or publication.
Several blogs, including those of Eric Alterman, Paul Waldman, and Eric Boehlertare published on the website as well. Posts on these blogs usually criticize the mainstream media's coverage of a certain event or series of events.
Users of the site are encouraged to do some of the things suggested in the site's "action center," as well as donate money to Media Matters for America.
