To demonstrate this fact, the group of investigators shared the children and the educators of a nursery into two groups. One of them followed a common cleaning habit, while the other used a more intensive method for the hand washing. The volunteers of the second group also received some special instructions. They should wash their hands during almost 10 to 15 seconds, rub their hands together until the soop make balls and use a soap bottle, as the germs can survive and reproduce themselves in a bar of soap. The experience result was that the group that was using this second method saw a significantreduce of flu among their members. So, it was easy to conclued that washing the hands very well, and often, avoids the flu. The investigationcoordinator also criated a method thatvisualizes what happens to the germs when we wash our hands. She mixed colored particles with jelly and asked the children to imagine that the particles were germs. Then, the children dived their hands into the gelly and washed them. It was easy to verify that, even after all the jelly has desappeared, some coloredparticles were still left on the skin. To remove them, it was necessary to wash the hands more intensively.
