Yes the LASIK surgery is the gainful advancement in the field of science and medicine. Gone are the days when operations were a subject to be frightened of.LASIK surgery has proven its worth in the majority parts of the world, as an emerging rescue cure for all sorts of acute eye disorders. LASIK is a kind of refractive laser eye surgery, which has miraculous powers in healing acute diseases like Myopia,Hypermetropia and Astigmatism.LASIK is an abbreviated form of Laser assisted in situ Keratomileusis. Lasik is an advance eye surgery technique which is a safe alternative to PRK ,photorefractive Keratectomy. Like all advance technical innovations Lasik has miraculous aspects in its healing: Lasik surgery corrects the vision to an extent that most of the Lasik patients discontinue the use of contact lens and glasses. Lasik is a promising hope in the eye surgery arena ,it is less painful Lasik is all the less time consuming than the previous techniques Moreover Lasik has less side effects on the patients.Most of the patients recommend Lasik with a smile Lasik does not use very strong drugs on the patient. Now let us have a brief idea about the procedure of the Lasik operation.Lasik surgery involves numerous steps. First of all, the patient is given bed rest and a mild dose of antibiotics. Then prior to the Laic surgery the cornea of the patient is thoroughly checked by a device called pachymeter which successfully determines its thickness.After that another device called topographer is used to measure their surface contour. The topographer is required to design a topographic map of the cornea with the help of low power lasers. The contour map gives inference of the type of the eye disorder the patient has. For instance the surgeon can now infer how thick corneal layer is to be removed to correct the eye disorder. The patient is kept wide awake while performing the operation. The LASIK surgery involves an initial step of creating a flap of the corneal tissue ,with the help of a microkeratome or with another procedure called as Intra Lasik.The next step of the Lasik surgery is the use of the excimer Laser to remodel the corneal stroma.This laser skillfully removes the extra tissue by vaporizing it and at the same time protecting the required stroma layerAbout 10 micrometer thick layers are removed with this method. The second step of the Lasik surgery is the most crucial step of the Lasik surgery. The patient who is kept wide awake might become panicky during this step as his vision begins to blur. But the doctor very skillfully handles the entire situation by remaining calm and relaxed. Now that the Laser has given the proper shape to the patient’s cornea, Lasik flap is positioned back over the treatment area by the surgeon. The healing takes place by natural adhesion. The patient by now knows that this method is less painful and the recovery will be quite rapid. After the surgery the patient is fully condoled and dealt with strict affection and care.
