History of Groundhog Day

Website Review   by:Belinda Sue Kiser

Looks like we have a early spring coming. Did you ever wonder who Punxsutawney Phil is and why every year we make such a fuss over his weather predictions.
Looking for a place where I can find out some interesting tidbits and facts about this beloved Icon since ..1886.(believe this?)I came across this site. Bill Anderson who writes this interesting but short piece on the history of Groundhog Day gives us easy reading and informative facts.
Sharing this trivia, I found interesting as well as entertaining. Mr Anderson gives you the who, what, & whereof this old friend who has follow us through our history. Foreseeing the coming of spring and giving hope to farmers who needed the warmer weather.
Did you know that in 1981 Phil wore a yellow ribbon to Honor the American Hostages in Iran. Is just one of many things I learn. Like I said you don't need a PhD to read this piece and gets right to the point and gives you the facts. Just like I like it...Short and Sweet!
