Lulu is a web-based,
independent publishing marketplace for digital do-it-yourselfers. It is an exciting site for those who
believe in the work they have created, but can not afford the normal
publishing costs.Lulu allows writers, musicians and those fond of their cameras to publish, sell and buy any and all things digital — books, music, comics, photographs and movies. Subscription is free, all tools are free – and you get a free blog when you sign up! You don’t pay for anything – anything – at all.Lulu is a technology company, not a publisher. It therefore basically provides the tools to achieve publishing goals but leaves control of content in the hands of the people who created the content. This means that you can use Lulu to publish and sell any kind of digital content, and no one is going to request that you change or edit your work. You upload your content, put a ‘buy now’ button on (that they provide you with too!) and sell your e-book, disk, photos, calendar or whatever product it is that you want to sell. Lulu simply takes your creative content to the world and gives talented publishers and web visitors a venue to buy and sell
independent works.Lulu makes money only when and if you sell. It put authors and independent publishers in control of their content - from content creation to pricing to royalties. You therefore need to market your own work as well – but even for that they give tips and provide you with information on how to create RSS and links to your own and possible other blogs. They manage the online business (including printing, delivery and customer service). You are allowed to set your own creator revenue for each piece of content. Lulu will mail you a check for the creator revenues your content generates and at the end of each quarter.
