daylight in the field of eye treatment.This is an advance surgical method ,introduced in the advance nations to facilitate eye treatment.This surgery is nowadays gaining stupendous popularity and response from all over the world.The technology has added a ray of hope to the patients suffering from Myopia ,Hypermetropia and astigmatism etc,.Lasik is an innovative surgery technique developed in Europe in and around the sixties.Samual Blum was the pioneer and the co inventor of this type of surgery. The LASIK has the name of certain doctors associated with its name.Dr Jose Barraquer of Columbia in 1960 made this magic wand treatment possible.This man revealed his ingenious by developing a microkeratone which he used to cut thin flaps in the cornea.After this he performed a procedure called Keratomileusis. Then another addition in this field was added by Dr Rangaswamy Srinivasan in 1981.Dr Lucio Buratto from Italy and Dr Ionnis Pallikarisis from Greece in 1990 ,merged the two techniques of Keratomileusis and Keratectomy.Their advance researches and remarkable ideology in the field of Laser treatment added a backbone idea in the world of eye treatment. Even after its invention, this wonderful technique remained hidden and could not gain deserving popularity for several decades .The inventors could not do much to add to the popularity of their incredible researches.This unique type of surgery uses a laser to alter the curvature of the cornea of the eye.This is an innovation in the field of surgery. This technique is quicker and does not caste any side effect on the on the eyes of the patients.The other methods of curing eye disorder are cumbersome and less inviting a s compared to this reliable and friendly method.Lasik patients improve more rapidly as compared to the patients seeking other treatments.This procedure has founded a successful cure of diseases like Far sightedness ,Longsightedness and Astigmatism(Myopia ,Hypermetropia and Astigmatism)The aim of this treatment is to reduce the dependence on glasses .This type of treatment can only be given to an adult patient .The patient should not be suffering from glaucoma or cataract trouble.The lasik surgery unlike the other surgeries is not performed on sleeping or unconscious patients,rather the patient is kept wide awake and mobile while performing the operation.The patient is given mild dose of sedative such as Valium and anaesthetic eye drops.The cost of LASIK surgery varies from clinic to clinic.Usually the doctors charge per eye.The price advertised ranges from $1000 onwards which is inclusive of hidden costs.The prices of LASIk operations have stabilized to $1965 in year 2006 and might reach $ 2000 in the year 2007.No doubt this surgery deserves a good amount ans it does not caste much sideeffects on the eyes and general health of the patients.Today most of the good hospitals and nursing homes of the European sub continent are providing Lasik surgeries.Every year lakhs of doctors specialize in this field.But still the world requires more LASIK awareness and professionals.The cost of this surgery is not reachable for the pockets of the poor masses of the third world nations. Free LASIK operations are the need of the hour and there is lack of Lasik surgeons all over the world.
