Streamyx is a product name for
tmnet’s
broadband service. As most of us knew, broadband means faster
internet connection compared to the dial-ups. The download
speed is definitely more than 56 kbps. Broadband is always connected and users will be charge a fixed fee every month. The best thing is no additional charges in the telephone bill. Also the users can still make incoming and outgoing calls while using the internet. There are 2 types of broadband; ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) and SDSL (Single-Line Digital Subscriber Line). ADSL’s download speed is faster than the upload speed where else SDSL’s download and upload speed are equally the same. Streamyx users are able to download movies, music at a faster speed and faster download time. You can even download large files, view multimedia online and most of the time cybercafés use this type of internet connections. Streamyx
packages are Streamyx Basic 384k, Streamyx Basic 512k, Streamyx Basic 1.0M and Streamyx Basic 2.0M, Streamyx SOHO 1.0M, Streamyx Enterprise ADSL 1.0M, Streamyx Enterprise SDSL 1.5M, Streamyx Enterprise ADSL 2.0M, Streamyx Corporate ADSL 1.0M, Streamyx Corporate SDSL 1.5M and Streamyx Corporate ADSL 2.0M. If user’s telephone line is registered under Personal category, user can subscribe any of the listed packages but if the telephone line is registered under Company category, the minimum package applied is Streamyx SOHO 1.0M. Some packages come with
modem (modem rental). For packages without modem, user can either purchase from the reseller or any computer stores. Users can only purchase ADSL modems if they want to use Streamyx because non ADSL modems are not usable. It means that you can’t use a dial-up modem for the ADSL purpose.
