I figure that most of you people reading this would have some sort of a
penpal - You would have written to them in post or email or you might
have found some people in socialising websites like Orkut,hi5 or
something.
There's a controversy building up - do we trust
them?When we chat with them,they sound absolutely innocent and like
your friend.But we do not know the inside of them.What a 25 year old
man is posing to be might end up being a 12 year old girl.
Some websites use verified profiles only.They call you up to check your
telephone number,mail you to check your address and more.I mean,they've
got to haven't they - Otherwise there isn't any point in having such
websites.
A good piece of advice you should know and remember is this - unless
you use a site which verifies the information,don't give out your phone
number,email address and don't arrange a meeting with them.Show your
identity only to those who you are sure you know and have met them.If
anybody acts suspicious,log off immediately.You also have the right to
report the member to the site administrator.
