Life is never what we plan it to be. It turns out the way destiny wants it to, and in our best interests, we ought to accept
it all...or do we ?
I dreamt of becoming a doctor once. Well, I did dream of becoming a teacher, a lawyer and an air-hostess also. No problem if none of my ‘ambitions’ went past seven days, but I dreamt no less ! To be honest, life takes us on a path that has been built for us even before we were born. And no matter in which way we try to alter it, at the end of the day we will reach the station we were supposed to reach. It’s all pre-destined !
Destiny, it is ? Or should we call it reality ? Fact is indeed stranger than fiction. It can sweep us off our feet and take us to a plane higher than our imagination. Picture this…we spend our childhood dreaming and building castles in the air. In our late teens we make an effort to put a foundation to our dreams and castles, and when in an instant the whole dream comes crashing down, we desperately try to hang on to the safest possible option, and thus begin our careers in places that fail to satisfy us. But that is the last resort—we have to cling on to it, or else we fall flat on the ground.
What is the outcome to be if a man bubbling with creativity is forced to calculate the daily wages of the workers, or if a person with absolutely no interest in books is made a librarian ? It’s terrible to even consider these things and yet everyday millions around the world do just this. It is a good thing, I guess. It is extremely difficult to accept the harsh realities of life, and the sooner you embrace it, the better it is for you. So kudos to everyone who secretly fosters the hope of breaking free one day and goes about doing the usual business of life everyday with a smile on their lips and hope in their hearts. It is important to stay positive, for no one knows what destiny is. And your current misery may just be a pothole on the path of success.
And above all, the most important thing is that we be our own managers. Nobody holds authority over us. We often make mistakes by following the “advice” that comes our way. If there are ten people there will be ten opinions, but these opinions are often failed dreams. Someone who was victimized by destiny and had to kill off their dreams young, may try to live that dream through us. Sensitive as we maybe to the feelings of others, it is important to realize that our dreams cannot phase out to accommodate those of others.
Maybe we will make grave mistakes and border on failure, but that is the risk we need to take if we have to overtake destiny. It is a fiercely challenging fight against destiny, and it is not always wise to go against it. But if we feel totally trapped in destiny’s web, why not try to break free ? We are suffering now, we will be suffering later too. But if there is even the slightest possibility of victory over destiny, I believe we should go for it !
It is of course all easier said than done. But don’t you feel it’s time we give happiness a chance and shun depression and despair out of our lives ? I feel it is. So come, let’s gather the courage to do things differently. Reality is like a thick fog...but we need to go through it to find ourselves.
