Memorial
Day in the USA is much heralded on the internet and I
ran away from it originally as I thought its just another piece of
US propaganda about their current victory over Saddam Hussein
in crushing the regime ... regime change ... lets bomb everyone
into the next world.
Then take it from there, complain constantly about the academic
profession - mine - ignoring America''s claims to be Global conscious
or concerned with the welfare of humanity.
Anyway back to the
blog ... America''s most
famous people drawn
in true US style from all walks of life but mostly the top of the
pops charts in terms of prestige and fame and money throughout
the world as well as in America. ... are castigated!
Some of these people are as follows:
Teddy Kennedy: Michael Moore: Jacques Chiraq: Jimmy Carter:
Tim Robbins : well its like the Who''s Who In International
Poetry but these individuals are not famous as poets, unlike
the writer of course ... so they are held together in some
metaphorical way known as Cards ... a bit like a playing
card game and they are seen as Anti-American ....
U.S. haters and are villified by the writer of the blog
in Newsmax.com.
You may ask, are they pulling my leg or yours ... well,
they thought of that too, and Jimmy Carter is picked out of
the pack to be the biggest joker of the lot considering he is
a former President of the USA. But I want to add, why
didnt you mention that Carter won the Nobel Prize twice ...
so I read ... isnt that important these days ... it certainly is
here in the UK. I heard Jimmy Carter described as an
"old man" presumably of Politics, Peace without War ...
Emotional
reading after a funeral
today which I
attended as a Supply Teacher ... Bill Harris brother of the famous
Richard Harris in Southampton, UK ... the mass was
wonderfully well attended by French, Irish and English
mourners, and the music and poetry caused a ripple
or two in its intensity, clarity and suitability ...
The atmosphere was wonderfully sympathetic and
the mourners I left with their sadness and appreciation .. and got
on with wrting the blog on those of us who are still very much
alive. Though I often think we have a heavy cross to carry when
people that we rely on, depend upon, die, pull out or desert us ...
we are left very much alone if it wasnt for the support
of local people and local church!
Interesting reading in today''s blog .. excellent stuff!
