I was browsing today and happened upon the
Windows Internet facility from the BBC News UK and
saw pictures of
the floods in parts of the country.
The floods have reached horrifying proportions and
have now been declared a
disaster area in and around
Gloucestershire.
The houses are underwater and so are some restaurants
and hotels - and the emergency services are in there with
rescue personnel and materials.
The crisis floods are going to reach a climax this evening
around 6 p.m. and people have already been evacuated
from the area.
The floods are expected to move further South towards
Oxford so I
suppose everyone must be on "stand by"
to prevent a disaster in this country.
Members of the Government are saying that everything
possible is being carried out to faciltate the safety of
the people involved in this massive tragedy.
Apparently, according to reliable sources the money
required will be significant to make a full recovery
after the floods and the disaster have been cleared up.
Its extraordinary that we are still in the middle of the Summer -
high season and July and the weather has gone completely
out of our expectation-range ... it might be possible to
expect heavy rainfall or floods in the Winter from Autumn
onwards - so I suppose that''s one reason why so many
people are affected by the floods and this terrible
disaster - it appears to be totally unexpected!
