The Daily Star
blog creates a feeling of real relationship with the
Middle East and each day the news is blogged out here to the UK.
Today its focusing on Brian Keenan the Belfast Teacher was who
captured in Beirut two decades ago and apparently Keenan has
returned there to "holiday" and remember his captivity with
British Journalist John McCarthy when they were both
captured by the Muslim faction ... Keenan''s Book
"An Evil Cradling" gives an account of Keenan''s feelings of his
horrific experiences ... he read the material out in a cafe,
and dwells on his relationship with his guard and how the
guard was at some points in fear of Keenan ... Keenan
is married and has 2 children ... Keenan has dwelt significantly
in the past with his fellow captive British Journalist Brian Keenan on their joint imprisonment and subsequent release back to the United Kingdom and ...
and I met McCarthy sometime ago ... and he seemed to have
put the terror of their joint imprisonment in Beirut - Lebanon
behind him.
I was on my way to John McCarthy''s Book
Signing in Belfast
at Waterstones Bookstore and I bumped into a door and
was very bloody by the time I arrived nevertheless I continued
along and got in the mood for the Book Signing ... McCarthy
touched too on his feelings and views in respect of where he
was "now" and "then" .. it was more than interesting ... I was
fortunate to get the blood stopped from flowing forth on my
brand new "John McCarthy" style long dark coat ... and with
some rest my
feet were in great shape altogether, and indeed
my feet are now unquestionably "beautiful feet" and I too have my own
book signing at
Poetry Cafe 22 Betterton Street, London on 7 September 07
at 3pm with Ely/Poetry Society, London, UK.... Rock Me/Poetry ...
I bought Brian Keenan''s book, "An Evil Cradling" and I was
required to translate it to my teacher''s assistant, an odd
activity you may think, but neverthless I obliged and read
and reread passages of Keenan''s work to this woman
who couldnt understand the narrative ... to her it was as
clear as "mud" but then after my hourly tutorial she
was
grateful for my literary tutorial and she felt that
she could understand the beauty and poetry of
Keenan''s narrative through an
interpreter such as myself.
Excellent stuff in today''s blog from: Daily Star .. keep on
reading ... the blog ...
